![]() Thats how much I miss the old Metallica. If you love bass guitar then you must own this or else youre missing out on something great and even if youre not that interested in the bass guitar you will be after watching this. From his dramatic appearance to his virtuosic bass playing Cliff Burton was all about his own sense of style.Ive never heard anybody play the bass quite that good.Hell most guitarists these days dont pour half the heart and soul into their lead guitar playing than Cliff did with his bass playing. You must own this.Now. ![]() i got into metallica when i was a teen in the early 90s. back then, the black album had just come out... late 91. the first real experience i had with the band was with kill em all, a metal friend lent it to me. in this time i was a "hard rocker" i.e van halen, guns n roses, etc. the first thing i heard of metallica was enter sandman, in this same time smells like teen spirit by nirvana was around. the mystery of metallica intrigued me... and so i went to kill em all. later ride the lightning, master, and so forth. metallica changed me into a "metal kid". they were not my favorite band, my "second", but i gotta give em credit for the great musical influence & change that ocurred in those years. i remember in those early days hanging out at a friend's house, the same guy who lent me kill em all, and watching cliff em all when it was extremely rare, on vhs... dvds did not exist. now my point. i stopped liking metal around the time metallica came out with load. nontheless, as a person who greatly respected one of the best rock bands of my time, i was dissapointed with them after black. to all newbie metallica fans out there(post-black fans), i dont blame them for their mainstream route... they turned older and tasted fame. i understand it. but my point is simple, to all these new kids digging on present-day metallica and the whole plascticized new-metal scene, i got this to say: if you consider yourself a true lover of meatllica, tune in to cliff em all. check out the band when they were REALLY metallica, when metal was newborn and innovavtive... music that helped changed the world of rock into what it is today. to REAL metallica fans, study your past!! thats what i got to say. peace ![]() Why the heck is this 17 year old bootleg-quality DVD so freaking expensive? Gee, could it be that the latter-day Hetfield is cashing in on the late, great Cliff, so he can buy that nifty Aston-Martin to add to his collection? Nooo, there's no way that they could be that brazenly sold out. Wait a second - what's that you're telling me about Lars Ulrich and Napster? And that his drumming su_cks too? Oh my goodness. ![]() I bought this and Cunning stunts not too long ago. I was disappointed with Cunning stunts, but this one was awesome. The songs here are much better played, and this was when Metallica was in it for the music not money!(Like they seem to be today, although I like some of their new stuff too). All the songs are great played especially "Seek and Destroy" "Sanatarium" "Fade to Black" "Creeping Death" and "From whom the bell tolls". The quality was much better then I expected due to how horrible people said it was. Of course the quality isnt the best audio and video vise but the songs are AWESOME and thats whats matters!(James said a similar thing too). Also there is a funny interview with Cliff and James where they talk about people thinking they were sell out. Cliff said "We are doing what we want to and if they consider that selling out then whatever" Cliff seemed like a pretty cool guy and he was very talented , much better then the bassist that Metallica have today! I think this DVD shows how talented Metallica were in the 80s. In my opinion they were at their best then. ![]() its awsum but the picture quality sucks because it is bootleg footage(people who videotape the concert that arent professionals at videotaping) and because half of the time the picture is blurred. but the sound quality actually sounds like Metallica's old stuff unlike the new live videos(Cunning Stunts and S & M). overall it is a great video when the picture is where you can see it. even though the picture is blurred, you can hear the sound just fine. there are a few bass solos done by Cliff Burton. this video is a tribute to Cliff and if he hadnt have died then Metallica wouldnt be what theyre today. songs include: Creeping Death,Am I Evil?, Damage Inc.,Master of Puppets,Whiplash,The Four Horsemen,Fade to Black,Seek & Destroy, Welcome Home(Sanitarium),For Whom The Bell Tolls,No Remorse, and Metal Militia. the video is 1 1/2 hrs of live performances and in between the songs are interviews,Metallica talkin, etc. |
