From Description Cliff 'Em All, Metallica's first video, is a tribute to late original bassist Cliff Burton. James Hetfield describes it as "a compilation of bootleg footage shot by sneaky Metallifux, stuff shot for TV that was never used, but we've held onto, home footage, personal fotos and us drunk. But most important, it's really a look back at the 3-1/2 years that Cliff was with us and includes his best bass solos and the home footage and pix that we feel best capture his unique personality and style." 1987. 90 minutes. |
![]() This dvd is one of the best in metallica's great collection of dvd's, it is amazing footage of metallica in the 80's and cliff burton at his best. The video and sound quality could have been better but the passion of the early metallica was defanitley there. ![]() Cliff Em All is brillant i must say and showing cliff in many differnt years and what not how he acted and what not its amazing that he handled playing the bass guitar like he did... but i feel theres some songs missing in this whole thing ill share Orion (i know the off solo is on it but i like too see the whole thing done live) The Call Of The Ktulu - Wouldve been interesting to see the young metallica handle it Phantom Lord - Metallicas first (thanks to Dave Mustiane) going off song solo and bringing the beat back up would like to see it live Leper Messiah - would seem pretty cool live Battery - Needs to be shown live with Cliff god damm*it The Thing That should not be - Um DUH!!! maybe a whole show of the old sh*it maybe... but thats what i feel that needs to be added to cliff em all well catch you later.. ![]() This DVD is one of the best collection of Metallica if you are truelly fan you will see the routs of Heavy Metal back in the eithys!!!! ![]() This DVD was a treat really, it's the first time i'v actually seen footage of the old Metallica play and they were ridcolus back then. I think the older fans (people who saw them in the 80's) are gonna buy a safe just for this DVD so they can remember the good old days of real metal. I would buy this instead of the crap they have been putting out since the 90's, since they lost their balls so long ago. It was really interesting to actually see Cliff play as well. Cliff is great but people calling him the "Hendrix of Bass",please, there is(was)only one Bass player worthy of that title and he was Jaco Pastorius (R.I.P). People should just calm down on the Burton @$$ kissing, he was exellent for his gendre of music (metal) but there is so much better, Geddy Lee could of laided Burton out. I really don't see why people complained about the video quality either, it was recorded in the 80's on a VHS format. I actually like the somewhat ragged feel to the footage. Also, Dave Mustaine is in here as well which is reason enough to buy this. Too bad we will never see them like this again. ![]() Cliff was obviously the most talented part of Metallica, and established them as the heavy metal Behemoths of the eighties and early ninties. While he died in '86 (RIP) his influence on Metallica survived, and is one reason why 'Justice' and black album were great. This video captures Cliff at some of his finest monents with Metallica, and it is clear that he wont be forgotten any time soon. Cliff 'Em All proves how important Burton was to Metallica, and without him, they would have sounded much, much different. They say only the good die young, like Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Kurt Cobain (that last could be argued), Cliff Burtons influence will not vanish in the realm of rock. Oh yeah, there was one reviewer who said this was missing something. I do agree that this should have had Orion (the bass solo kicks ass in that), but I dont think its a big problem. |
