"Excellent but a little morbid"
I have been a devoted Chains fan for as long as I can remember. I acutally did not even know they had put out a DVD of their videos until a friend bought me this for my birthday in July. All the video's look and sound excellent, especially with a nice home theatre system, or a decent rack system. The highlights include "Would," "What the hell have I," "Heaven Beside You," and other footage in between.

I must caution though, the sad part about this DVD is that you can see the steady decline of Layne Staley, who passed away in Spring 2002. From the beginning he looks mostly normal, but by the time you see the videos from the "tripod" period and the MTV Unplugged, it appears that Staley is fried completely, given his empty stare and unheatlthy look. Buy this if you are a fan of Alice in Chains, or if you like decent metal music.

"Alice in Chains - Music Bank - The Videos (1999)"
I agree that this is one of the best video collections ever assembled. Watching it from beginning to end was bittersweet. You get to see the band grow but also see the changes Staley goes through whilst battling his demons.
I am sad that Layne is gone but am happy that Cantrell continues to create great music. This is a must have for all Alice fans.

"Defective DVD?"
I am a huge AIC fan, and was thrilled when I saw the VHS copy of this. I've watched it more times than I can count. So why the 3 stars? Something is a little goofy with the sound on the DVD, and I've heard the same complaint from other people. The harmonies are the most affected, with Jerry completely drowning Layne out on some songs.

All in all, stick with the VHS copy. It's outstanding.

"i miss the Chains"
man oh man, i love Alice in Chains. this is a great music DVD. it has all of the bands music videos (and there are quite a few of them) as well as a little bit of footage of the band just chilling out. it has two videos for the song "We Die Young;" the one played on MTV and the original one that was made by someone at the Seattle Art Institute. if you ask me, the latter is much better. if you are a Chains fan, i would highly reccomend your purchase of this DVD...

"the best way to make you remember them."
After you watch it you'll be singing the songs during the day, the sound is so great that you just can't watch the videos quietly, you'll put it louder and louder and louder. This is one of the best dvd's I have. It is indeed a purchase you have to make. even watching the credits while listening to the while & wasp tune it takes you to the thought "how I wish you were alive Lane".
