![]() This is the top "concept album" ever conceived, PERIOD! Pink Floyd obviously ranks up there too, but as far as political content, thought provoking, dramatic, consuming, enthralling, enveloping entertainment, this DVD is the PINNACLE. All of the band is in their best form,,,Tate puts every ounce of energy into every note! You can feel the emotion of the show just as you were there! I got to see the original live, and am going to this tour on the 15th of Oct. Having worn out the VHS version of this concert, it is great to have the DVD version now!! GET IT! You won't be disappointed! ![]() After reading all the great reviews of this dvd I decided to get it, but I wish I hadn`t. This is not a review of Queensryche or their music, I love both, but the reviewers forgot to say that the entire dvd is put together with cut-shots. This makes watching the concert more like watching a 90 minute music video instead of a cohesive live show. The camera cuts to different shots every 3 to 4 seconds for the entire dvd. It will give you a headache after a song or two. If you want to see Mindcrime performed live I suggest you get a bootleg of the show instead of wasting money on this dvd. I should have know with Wayne Isham directing it that the dvd would be shot the way it was, but I took a chance anyway and I lost. Stay far away from anything Wayne Isham directs if you are like me and can`t stand watching a concert of nothing but cut-shots. Also just to let any of you know who may be interested in it, Iron Maiden`s "Rock In Rio" DVD is shot the same way as this dvd is. It is unwatchable and a great show was ruined by cut-shots. ![]() Having seen this concert live, I was more than anxious to get it. I currently only have the VHS version and wish to replace it with the DVD. This is an awesome concert to have...but only if you're a die-hard metal fan. ![]() This DVD is a must have for the fans of the band, as well as fans of real hard rock/heavy metal, and rock music in general. Fans of Limp Bizkit and similar stuff should be warned that this concert may disappoint them, as this band has a singer, who can actually sing, and the band members, who can play their instruments. As it's already been noted by other reviewers, there's no excuse for Queensryche fans for not having it already. This video shows the band in it's prime, and the performance is outstanding. Get it now. ![]() I've seen Queensryche at least 4 times, maybe 5 (I lost count), one of which was during the Empire Tour that included the "Livecrime" set. I am as blown away now as I was back then. Of course taking into consideration that this tour took place in the latter half of the 80's, it still stands out as one of the best shows I've ever seen, and the DVD definitely does it justice. A previous reviewer (who failed to proof read his review before making himself look like an uneducated moron) stated how horrible he thought it was to see Geoff Tate roll around on the stage and act so dramatic, but for anyone who knows that back then (and even now) that a Queensryche show has to include some element of theater. At least that was the case for "The Promised Land" and the "Hear In The Now Frontier" tours. In fact, for those of you lucky enough to get a ticket to their latest tour, they will be performing "Operation: Mindcrime" in its entirety once again for the first time in 15 years. Since I won't be able to see them this time around, and for those who have never seen a Queensryche show before, this DVD is one that captures the sights and sounds of one of best live performances to date. I highly recommend it!!! |
