"Absolutely superb"
This "Operation livecrime" was one of my first DVD's contact and is, no doubt, a BIG surprise, far beyond of what i was expecting! After more than 30 "listenings" of this same CD, putting the ears in DVD realise looks like you're listening the first one - you just have to close your eyes and enjoy... The band follows with pure fidelity all the tracks, playing them as the real h/Heavy lovers want their music: strong, cristal and adrenalized! We can see, for instance, a Geoff Tate on his best. No excess melodramatic nor reserved at all... Just in the right point, mixing quite well his voice between the two guitars, keeping, althoug, each one its personality and we can check it at every step. Chris de Garmo, Michael Wilton, as they show us before, complete themselves in sintony, ravishing the inside and the outside audience in an unforgettable way. They do rock indeed! Eddie and Scott, on bass and drums, respectively, close the other band sounds with the same quality. After seeing this DVD, whatever other bands's works i might get, this one, "Operation livecrime" will be my reference for other rock lovers's advices or even for me when i'm getting downn.
Strongly recommended!

"Awesome awesome awesome"
I am admittedly an Operation Mindcrime freak - the album and it's incredible story and musicianship consumed me and a group of my friends many years ago in high school. I got to see Queensryche perform on this tour and it is still one of my favorite concerts to this day. This DVD captures the the excitement, intensity, and most of all the atmosphere of Mindcrime. Add flawless performances by the band, an incredible mix and sound production (I listened with headphones in Dolby stereo, although Dolby 5.1 is an option in the menu if you're NOT watching at midnight with your wife sleeping in the next room!), and fantastic video production and you've got a video version that not only does justice to the original album, but surpasses it in the 'chills up my back' factor. If you ever debated whether Mary was murdered or killed herself, then you need to buy this DVD now, because you're a freak too, and you will LOVE this concert. If you're not a freak, buy it anyway and you will be!!! Special features could have been better, but the interview with Geoff Tate is awesome (but too short), and occasionally whoever edited the concert video clips together goofed up on synching the video to the audio - a minor gripe that probably wouldn't bother anyone else at all.

"An absolute masterpiece"
This is quite possibly the single best thing I own - if I were put in a situation where I had to sacrifice everything I own except for one thing, it could well be the Operation:Livecrime DVD. With the lights out and the volume turned way up, you really can feel as though you're actually at the concert. I needn't go into the brilliance of the album all these songs are taken from, which is without a doubt the best album ever made, in my opinion, but I think this DVD is able to somehow surpass the album. Of course, the songs don't flow into each other the way they do on the album, Geoff Tate occasionally doesn't sing as well as on the album, but there is just something about this absolutely phenomenal performance, and being able to actually see them playing the songs, that makes it quite possibly that little bit better than the album. That said, don't get this before you've bought the Mindcrime CD, as it will lessen your adoration of it somewhat, I would imagine.

Three minor annoyances - at the end of Suite Sister Mary, where Geoff Tate is talking to the crowd, they appear to have cut this section down, as on the Livecrime CD there is a whole speech where Geoff says "For those of you unfamiliar with Queensryche and our music you're probably wondering what the hell's going on" and so on.

Another is that Pamela Moore's part is clearly pre-recorded, as it is completely identical to the way it sounds on the album. I can only presume that the woman miming is in fact not Pamela Moore, and they just used her to play Mary because they thought she looked the part more, but it is quite annoying.
The final thing is that the "hidden" versions of The Lady Wore Black and Roads To Madness are without vision - all you get is a black screen with the lyrics to the songs printed. The version of Lady Wore Black is the same as the one on the Building Empires video, so I don't mind that, but I would've liked to see them playing Roads To Madness.

"Nice Surprise"
I've heard the name Queensryche bandied about for ages
now but have never bothered to give them a listen for
fear of yet another boring metal band with good chops &
average songs.

But I leaped in anyway and bought this DVD out of curiosity
(I must also mention that I;m a huge FLOYD/RUSH/ELP etc. fan),

What a delight, this DVD is a pleasure to watch.

The songs are very memorable with interesting
variations to them, more prog than straight metal.
I've always been wary of operatic style
rock singers but Mr Tate does a fine job, great
control, not too much overblown vibrato and superb
pitching from low to high,a very "easy" singer to listen to

(unlike the appalling James La Brie from DT).

The guitar parts are well thought out and melodic with good
sounds and nice lead lines .The drummer & bass player too are
superb.

Overall a great "larger than life" sound, good songs &
performance very rare in this day and age of 3 chord low slung
DEE tuned Les Paul bands that all sound alike.

Still interesting after repeated viewings.

Very Good

"Queensryche at its best"
