![]() I received the DVD, and was excited to watch it. When I started to watch it, I was a little disappointed in the lack of energy the band had, and there was very little crowd interaction from the band. It seemed almost like it was a chore for them to do this video. The camera work is ok, but the extras were very dull, in that they recorded them in black and white, and they looked like robots instead of people who have been doing this kind of music for years. I am a huge Megadeth fan, and after hearing sound clips of the Rude Awakening CD, I figured the video of the concert would be even better. I didn't hear any of the audience throughout the whole concert, but they did show some clips of the fans throughout the audience. Dave Mustaine's solo's were excellent though, and the sound quality of the DVD is excellent also. I just wish they would have shown a little more energy during the concert. I would recommend it for any Megadeth fan. ![]() What more can you say? Contrary to some of the other people on here that missed it, ALL the tracks listed are ON THIS DISC. The sound is amazing and so is the very simple stage setup and overall look of the live performance. If you want megadet at it's best then get this DVD. I cant say enogh good things about it. ![]() Ok, so this concert was in Arizona, not Chicago. But just seeing the TWNAH backdrop, the wall of amps, and the lights, it all really brought me back to when I saw Megadeth in October 2001. This DVD is a lot of fun to listen to and watch. This band was a prime live band, like all great bands. The greatest bands give you their best performances live. Megadeth was one of them. This DVD captures all the energy and magic of the real concert. My firstg complaint is the "Underground Show" idea. It was really pointless and not well done. The whole concert should have been in color and slickly produced. Also, how much of the goddamn drummer do we need to see? Jesus Christ, have some sense. Jimmy gets more TV time here than Anna Kournikova on tennis shows. More Dave Ellefson would have been a better idea. The one thing I do like about the direction is that when Al or Dave pull off a solo, you generally get to see them throughout their whole solo, and that's great. The most well shot songs on this DVD are Sweating Bullets, Dread & the Fugitive Mind, Symphony of Destruction, and Holy Wars. Definitely worth the money. Buy it and own a great band on a DVD you can watch over and over. ![]() Well, this was surely an awakening, but definitely wasn't a rude one. I've been longing for a live video of Megadeth performing ever since I got into them back in 92' when Countdown came out. And now, after so many years, I'm finally glad that I have a copy of probably their first and last ever live release. The overall sound quality of the DVD is good, with an even balance of drums, bass, guitars, vocals etc. However, I felt that the kick drum was slightly too loud, along with the hi-hat which was probably placed too close to the mic. The rhythm guitars were also lacking on crunch which could otherwise help bring more power into the songs. The visual quality is good altho I did notice slight grainy images at times. You can't really complain about the set list here as it features an astounding 24 songs. It was missing classics like Lucretia, Skin O' My Teeth, Anarchy in the UK, but the band did play at least 1 song out of each album. About 4-5 of it were edited and presented under a special 'concert' section and most of it was available in the main section. This was a good opportunity to introduce Al Pitrelli to former Megadeth fans like myself. I have to admit, I did jump straight to Hangar 18 just to see what Al could do. He didn't disappoint, as he played most of the 20 plus solos almost note for note and improvised on some of the faster licks. He looked really comfortable on the guitar, even when it was strapped really low. I can't wait to see what he and Marty are gonna put out next .. On the performance side, I think the band forgot to have their Wheaties for breakfast. They really lacked any energy, and seemed to be really focused on what they're playing. They sure could use a few moshing lessons from the guys at Cannibal Corpse:). On the overall, this is truly essential purchase for any Megadeth fans. I was really surprised and glad to have the chance to the band dishing out classics like Angry Again, Train of Consequence, A Tout le Monde etc. Too bad Nick and Marty couldn't join in the fun .. ![]() if you ever want to see the most BORING stage presence in the existence of METAL, then BUY THIS DVD NOW!!! of course the mentality level of the average METAL-HEAD is low enough that this will be totally simulating for every one of their two brain cells... but for the more astute METAL connoisseur, you would be better off buying the Audio-only version and watch the Playboy Channel! |
