![]() Metallica eats. This DVD eats. You eat for looking up this Metallica DVD. ![]() This was a great dvd, very insightful. It actually helped me understand the album better and appreciate it more. ![]() This documentary confirm what i was thingking back in mid-eighties when i've first watched an interview of metallica : Metallica IS James and Kirk... Lars is just a jumping itching and selfish controling BUG (the only positive point he brought to the band are diamond heads covers). Great DVD and smarts bonus Love it ! Long live Dave Mustaine ![]() Some Kind of Monster can be simply described as the best documentary ever. You get behind the minds of the creators of classic albums like The Black Album (Metallica), Kill 'Em All and Load (only to name a few). This film builds a bond between you and the band. You feel for Hetfield and his problems. I was particularly sad for Kirk Hammet due to his lack of having much of a say in the band. Hetfield and Ulrich are the two remaining founding members of Metallica and they often times show it. I am not speaking for everybody, but as a pretty big metal fan, the best part has to be the conversation between Lars Ulrich and Dave Mustaine. If you call yourself a fan of Metallica and/or Megadeth, I don't need to explain the signifigance of this confrontation. You also get to see the making of St. Anger, Metallica's newest album. It's not their best, but it is a descent Metallica flash from the past. Even if you are not a huge Metallica fan, this movie is still very intruiging. The interactions between the band are at times funny, angry, sad, etc. I was a little mad at Lars Ulrich for the Napster thing, but after seeing this film, it became understandable, a little bit. P.S. FOR THE RECORD, DON'T STOP LISTENING TO METALLICA BECAUSE OF THE NAPSTER INCIDENT SEL YEARS BACK. THAT WAS MOSTLY CAUSED BY ULRICH. HAMMET AND HETFIELD DIDN'T HAVE MUCH TO DO WITH THAT. ![]() ***** - FIVE STARS ================== I loved this DVD!!!.... This is Metallica folks. A very angry, disturbed, and highly emotional threesome. This DVD goes way beyond your normal "Band Documentary". This takes you inside alomst everything that is Metallica. Their personal lives, inner struggles with one another, and in the end all of their energy..... It was great to see Lars finally sit down with Dave Mustaine, and share their true feeling towards eachother, and the effects it's had on both of them over the years. I love Mustaine, he's one cool dude, and he's never afraid to show his true feelings. That segment was very emotional.... The Newsted conspiracy, and how he's moved on and doing his own thing without the boys. I can see why Jason left after seeing how the main three members of Metallica act towards eachother. I had no idea how much Lars and James hate eachother until I watched this. I'm not really shocked, but it's amazing how much those two inflated egos feed off eachother, and in effect bring things down.... Kirk was the coolest of them all. He seemed like the middle man throughout the entire film. The leveler so to speak. He always had something nice to say whenever things would get tough between Lars and James, and it almost seems like he's the glue that kept it all together.... This is a great film, and although it has a "soap" feel to it, it's highly entertaining throughout. I was very pleased with this purchace, and although I really didn't care for St. Anger, the tour that followed was incredible.... BUY IT!!!! |
