![]() This DVD is totally amazing. This footage is great because almost like a real show. The sound sounds like a ton of bricks. (Just hear the bass drum in your subs!) Caption is nice too... no image processing, just the show as we were there (unless a few scenes where see the projections on the back of the stage). Also, there is other songs (like a Change of Seasons) as bonus material. Also, there is a lot of pictures took during tour. ![]() First, Dream Theater are not a Heavy Metal Band, they are a Progressive Rock Band, so if you are into metal, this may not be your cup of tea. However, if you like complex rythmns, time signatures, chord progressions and music that is devoid of "fluff" then this could be the DVD for you. There are few bands that come up to the level of Dream Theater, Rush is one of the few that pops into mind. Besides, Rush has had a heavy influence on Dream Theater. I have seen DT in concert and this DVD does the band justice. The atmosphere is excellent and the visuals great. If you are a musician so much the better, as you can learn by watching what goes on, on stage. Mike Portnoy is, as usual a master of Progressive Rock Drumming. As for Bass and Guitar watchout for the weak of heart. It is great to see a great band put out DVDs even if the sound quality is less than perfect. I just want to see them and revell in their talent. Wonderful DVD and if you want to check out other cool stuff get Mike Portnoy's Liquid Tension Experiment. ![]() I have been rockin to DT for 6 years. (Im only 17) This was a really good show. The sound was mixed quite well for a live feature. The instrumental part of the music was "on the ball". James Labrie sang pretty well except for a few occasions of being flat or falling short of his desired high notes that he so effortlessly hits in the studio. I suppose it happens to most lead singers with age. We dont all age like Paul Rodgers. But all in all it was a note-worthy show. Any DT fan should seriously consider buying this DVD. Live cd's are good but cant capture the visual like a video or DVD. ![]() I was a big Dream Theater fan before I bought this DVD. I thought they were one of the best bands on the planet. Now I know for sure that they are absolutely, without a doubt, the best band on the planet. Now I'm not just a fan - I'm obsessed. I've had this DVD for several months now, and I watch at least a portion of it almost every day. I am addicted. If you like Dream Theater, you MUST have this DVD! ![]() I bought this with great expectations but was dissapointed. All myopic DT fans will avoid this review, but this DVD ... The sound should be in 5.1, and loud! The volume level is very, very low. I can't believe anyone listened to this before releasing it. Also the video has way to much "cinematic" scenes. Just give a DVD showing this great band playing LOUD, and in 5.1! |
