"So very average..."
Watching and listening to Dream Theater for over ten years has given me a good idea of when they are good and when they are not. The music here is, for the most part, very good as one would expect from DT. The video is more of a mixed bag. First of all, the band sounds pretty tight. As usual they are a lot of fun to watch. However, the portion with John Petruci soloing over a gospel singer makes me cringe. It is awful. Sometimes juxtaposition is a good thing. It is not in this case. Secondly, the video itself is an admirable attempt to put vision to sound, yet the quality of the video footage ranges from good to poor.

I realize that DT probably got little to no label support for this project, but some of these shots look far from professional. I'm speaking of the film footage shot to supplement the story of the album-NOT the footage of the band in concert. I did find some of the graphics cheesy and repetitive after about ten minutes. My other complaint has to do with the fact that often, when I would much rather be watching the band play the tune (especially the climax of the last song!) I am stuck watching the dopey film footage. This is a mixed bag so approach it with caution-even some DT fans have been critical. This is probably not the best introduction to the band if you are unfamiliar with them.

"Outstanding sound quality!"
Last week, I had the opportunity to see DT perform in CT. The next day, I bought the DVD on amazon.com. Well, I ... watched it that night. I was quite blown away with the production of this concert. The sound quality is excellent -period! They did alot of split screens, showing bass, keys, and guitar doing melodic runs together, which was nice to see. Occasionally though, some angles were not in synch with (for example) a guitart solo. The additional 1-hour of live footage was a treat. Alot of show for the buck. A great buy if you have big screen TV and a good sound system. A must have for any DT fan.

"Musical mastery"
If you are a fan of music played with intensity and mastery, this is the DVD for you. It really doesn't matter how die-hard a fan you are of Dream Theater, this DVD should please anyone who is a fan of fine musicianship. If you are a DT fan, then get ready to experience a serious musical ride.

As you will read in other reviews, portions of the concert are over-theatrical, but the positive side of this is it gives you good feeling of what a Dream Theater concert is really like. Everyone in the band puts on a stellar performance, as you have come to expect, so it is really difficult to list specific "highlights". If you want to see two masters of the six-string universe, I have three words for you: Petrucci and Myung. Also, this DVD includes one of the greatest displays of drum pyrotechnics that you will ever see. Check out Mike Portnoy on "Finally Free" - simply amazing. Just buy this DVD, you will not be sorry...

"Outstanding!"
This DVD is totally outstanding. There is no group in the world that plays so good live. Dream Theater's live performances are unsurpassed, let alone impressive. The sound on this DVD is very good and the picture is crystal clear. My favourite song is Through Her Eyes, which features an excellent guitar solo. I have one negative remark only. I am a little dissatisfied with the selection of songs. I wish they played Another Day, Pull Me Under, Take The Time... Nevertheless, I highly recommend this DVD to all Dream Theater's fans and people, in general, who appreciate good music.

"Totally awesome. A must buy for all Dream Theater fans."
I always wanted to hear Dream Theater live, but could never seem to get to one of their shows. Being a Dream Theater fan for many years, I ran right out and bought this DVD. All I can say is that I was totally blown away. I always pictured all of the guys sitting down in front of sheet music reading what they are playing because the music is so elaborate and intricate. That is not the case. The members of the band are standing on stage just basically jamming out having a good time and the music is note for note incredible. Being a musician too, I am just blown away of the talent of these individuals. Amazing!
