![]() This video takes you step by step through megadeths past and present.(P.S. I have learned from the megadeth website ... that Dave Mustaine has suffered a severe wrist injury-probably due to the years of playing speed metal for us-and he does not know if he will be making any more music with Megadeth.. :( --bummer) This video ROCKS! I would buy it again. HiGhLy recomended. There are interviews with James hetfield and Lars Ulrich as well as many other members past and present who have played with megadeth. YOU HAVE TO GET THIS !! IT IS WORTH THE MONEY !! ![]() Megadeth has reigned in my mind and heart as the absolute best that music has to offer, therefore, I was seething with anticipation for this Behind the Music segment. I watched what originally aired on VH-1 and was bitterly disappointed. The extras on this dvd are somewhat mollifying, but still it lingers. For years, more than I can remember now, I was(and still am) enthralled with Dave Mustaine. His intelligence and lyrical mastery far surpassed that of his peers. And the music itself, well, I can't explain the genius of the speed, the melody, and the control that he/they have over it all. But instead of showing the almost palpable intensity and intelligence that Mustaine emanates, the show fell back on the drug abuse and excess that would make of Megadeth little more than another hair band. I knew, just as any other fan would know, that there was trouble in the band with sobriety, but where Mustaine and the boys decided to move on, the show did not. Perhaps I watched this with wishful expectations. I wanted the band to be honored, as they have never been give their due, and felt that the concentration was too heavily focused on the chaos rather than the balance. I'm giving this dvd four stars because it is a must for any Megadeth fan despite what I see as its failings(which is just my opinion.)And the extras are really great. Since MTV has give their videos no air time, it's wonderful to be able to see them at all. If you love the band as much as I do, if you want to see them praised, I wouldn't recommend watching this with the same mindset that I did. Perhaps then more enjoyment could be taken from it. ![]() What can be said about one of the greatest Metal bands of all time?? PLENTY. You can see it all here on the Extended Version of VH1's Behind the Music: Megadeth, Although it should be called BTM: Dave Mustaine. Dave is a colorful character and you really get to see every side of him here, from the wild man whom nobody could get along with in Metallica, to druggie, drunk, dead man, father, recovering druggie and drunk, to upstanding representative in the rock and roll community. The extra interviews on the DVD (where they discuss how tight the band is now, better than it has ever been) are now thoughrouly depressing since the band has had to split up, though I hold out hope that one day Dave Mustaine will return to the arenas and continue to wow us with his impressive guitar skills, and his powerful lyrical style. ![]() This DVD is great. Well worth the money. I've listened to Megadeth since the early 90's and have seen and read plenty of pictures, articles, music videos, interviews etc. So for me to be interested in a biography on Megadeth, you need to show me something I've never seen. This DVD does that. Being a big fan of their earlier albums I was always curious about the former members like Chris Poland and Jeff Young. I've read some interviews in magazines from Chris Poland but never actually seen these guys in person other than the music videos. I've never been able to see them as real people, they were more like characters in a movie. What made me buy this was when I found out Chris Poland and Jeff Young gave in depth interviews on their time with Megadeth. You can relate to these guys as real people now. There is a great segment on the late Gar Samuelson where you can see Poland is very distraught over his death, as well as Ellefson and Mustaine. This DVD also shows many comments from Mustaine's former bandmates in Metallica like Hetfield and Ulrich. Both men reveal a lot about their relationship with Mustaine. Even former Metallica bassist Ron McGovney makes an appearance on the DVD as they talk about Mustaine's tenure with Metallica. Lars reveals he actually enjoyed Peace Sells when it came out, but was afraid to admit it at the time. You get to see photo's of Mustaine as a little kid as well as plenty of behind the scenes footage and photos. They also go into detail the chaotic life this band lived/lives to this day. I only received this DVD today, however I know I'll be watching it many more times. Very entertaining. Whether you're a fan of their earlier albums, later albums or their entire career... this DVD is well worth the money! ![]() this is an amazing dvd, it has everything u could ever want to know about megadeth. the extras on the dvd are cool and the video and biographys , this dvd is worth every penny.any megadeth fan or music lover should have this in thier collection.the dvd has it all , tells everything about mustaine and all the former and current members of megadeth.this is one of the best dvds i own. |
